David Bowie (1999)

This is as good a one-disc overview of the Rock Chameleon's career as you are likely to find (although I still prefer the original of Fame to the Fame '90 remix).

There's a funny story about generation and cultural gaps here. My wife is only three years younger than I, and yet while I knew Bowie from the early days she was only familiar with his career from Modern Love onwards. When we went together to see the concert movie Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, her only reaction was, 'I didn't know David Bowie was a homosexual?!?'
