Meatloaf (1977)
Criticised as kitsch, it was for my generation the epitome of classic rock. Jim Steinman's writing more than bordered on cornball, but Meatloaf always brought it off with high-amp verve.
I'll never forget seeing Paradise By The Dashboard Lights at the theatre in Columbus' Graceland Mall while my date and her roommates said of Carla DeVita, 'How could she do that with him?
